Artemis

　She is the goddess of the moon and hunting animals. Her father is Zeus, her mother is Leto and her twin brother is Apollo.

　Leto of her mother was persecuted by jealous Hera. Hera deprives entirely the birth place, she tried to kill Leto sent the big snake Python. Leto walked all over the world while she frightened Hera. Leto’s sister who is Asteria provided a place for her. Asteria also received a courtship of Zeus formerly, but had been transformed into floating island because she refused him. However, Next Hera hide Eileithyia who is the goddess of smooth childbirth. Leto continues to endure pain by nine nights and nine days, she gave birth to twins finally. The delivery succeeded because goddess Iris of the rainbow unable to remain indifferent to a suffering of Leto, so she stole the eyes of the Hera and brought Eileithyia.Soon as born in Delos, Apollo and Artemis were taken up goddess. Twins are poured water pure sea, wrapped in pure white hemp cloth, tied a cloth with a string of gold. Artemis promised the thing as the everlasting virgin to father Zeus and forbade love to nymphs of her attendant.

　She is master of bow and arrow the same as her brother Apollo. Brother shoots the arrow of gold, but she's employed silver arrows. It is a metaphor of the sun and the moon.

She was also "guardian of the weak"including the wild animals of the forest, so she has gentle heart basically. However, she has the heroic episode that her and Apollo defeated giant Tityuos which was going to assault mother. In addition, she changed the nymph who broke an oath of the purity into bear and expelled. she changed hunter Actaeon who witnessed a place of bathing of herself accidentally into deer and let the hunting dog tear it apart. There are many such cool-headed anecdotes. A man who allows only that her mind, it was Orion who is master of hunting. But, by trick of Apollo was jealous, she shot and killed him by herself.
